About us
A consultancy, not a corporate formation mill.
setupcompany.eu is a boutique advisory practice based in Gabrovo, Bulgaria. We do one thing: help businesses from Asia and Türkiye establish a functioning legal entity inside the European Union, without the markup of a large firm or the vagueness of a formation-only service.
How we work
Straightforward advice. Accountable in writing.
Company formation is not complicated, but it is easy to get wrong. A wrong address, a missing declaration, a bank that will not work with non-residents — these are not rare edge cases. They are routine problems that cost time and money to fix after the fact.
We avoid them by doing the preparation work before the paperwork starts: understanding your business structure, your ownership chain, your intended activities, and the bank's likely position on your application. The engagement letter you sign specifies exactly what we will do and what you will pay. Nothing is added later.
Clear scope of work
Every engagement starts with a written proposal that specifies exactly what is included. You know what you are getting before you commit to anything.
On the ground in Gabrovo
We are based in Gabrovo. When a bank appointment needs someone in the room, that person is us — not a third-party agent we have never met.
Direct communication
Consultations and ongoing work are conducted in English or Bulgarian. Formation documents are prepared to the certified-translation standard the Commercial Register requires, whatever your own working language.
The advisor
One senior advisor, not a rotating team of juniors.
Every engagement at setupcompany.eu is handled by the same person from first call to completed registration. The advisor is a Gabrovo-based digital and business operations specialist with direct experience across company registration, EU VAT compliance, and cross-border business setup for clients from multiple markets.
There is no account manager between you and the person doing the work.
What this means in practice
- You speak to the same person at every stage.
- Questions get answered by someone who has done this before, not someone reading from a script.
- If something changes mid-process — a bank requests additional documents, the Commercial Register asks for a correction — you hear about it immediately, with a clear explanation of what it means and what happens next.
Where we operate
Based in Gabrovo — the centre of Bulgaria, close to the industrial corridor.
Most company formation services operate from Sofia. We are based in Gabrovo — a city in central Bulgaria with a long manufacturing tradition, direct access to the industrial zones of Lovech, Pleven and Stara Zagora, and a fraction of the operating costs of the capital.
For clients who intend to use their Bulgarian entity for more than a postal address — clients who may eventually lease space, hire staff or receive goods — Gabrovo is not a quirky choice. It is the practical one.
Our network
We do not do everything ourselves.
Company registration, bank account opening and VAT compliance are within our direct scope. Legal advice, annual accounting after the first year, and specialist permit work are handled by vetted partner firms — independent professionals we have worked with and can vouch for.
When a step in your process requires a partner, we introduce you directly and stay involved enough to ensure the handoff works. Where a referral fee applies, it is agreed with the partner in writing beforehand and disclosed to you — it does not change the price you are quoted for the underlying work.
A few things worth knowing before you book a call.
We do not provide legal advice. If your structure involves complex ownership arrangements, an ongoing tax dispute or litigation risk, you will need a qualified Bulgarian lawyer — and we will tell you that plainly rather than charging you to discover it later.
We do not provide nominee shareholder services. A nominee director can be arranged where your situation calls for one, but the company's beneficial ownership is declared to the Bulgarian authorities as required by law, and there is no structure available through this practice that obscures who actually owns the company.
We do not operate in markets subject to EU or UN sanctions. Inbound enquiries from sanctioned jurisdictions are declined at first contact.
Ready to start?
A thirty-minute call, in English or Bulgarian, at no charge. Bring your questions and we will tell you plainly what is involved, how long it takes and what it costs.
